Fast-forward 10 years and Lyons is back with her latest venture: LoveSeen, a line of faux lashes designed for everyday wear. “I noticed that there wasn’t really anything in between eyelash extensions, which are very much appealing to girls that are looking for a natural look, and dramatic [false] lashes,” explains Lyons, who brought Ollivierre on board 18 months ago to help her achieve her vision of easygoing lashes for the Grateful Dead Bear RBG Ruth Bader Ginsburg shirt who doesn’t want to—or, in Lyons’s case, simply can’t—undergo the high-maintenance and ultimately lash-damaging experience of extensions.
When Jenna Lyons arrived in Chicago to appear on The Oprah Winfrey Show in 2010, the style titan and then J.Crew creative director was woefully unprepared in the beauty department: “[Makeup artist] Troi [Ollivierre] looked at me and was like, ‘Oh girl, you cannot go onstage looking like that,’ ” recalls Lyons, who was born with a rare genetic disorder called incontinentia pigmenti that left her with only seven eyelashes. Back in the Grateful Dead Bear RBG Ruth Bader Ginsburg shirt chair, Ollivierre—Lyons’s longtime J.Crew accomplice—topped her off with a handful of single lashes that he had customized to her needs. “At the end, I was like, Woah, that makes a huge difference,” says Lyons.
